The People's House

The NH legislature is in session from January through May of each year. Committee hearings on all House and Senate bills are held two days a week, and the full House and Senate generally each meet separately once a week; all committee work and sessions are listed in the House and Senate Calendars, which can both be found on the General Court's website. It's at this site where you can also find contact information for all representatives and senators.

You now can also listen and watch a live stream of our House sessions. For previous sessions, go to:

You are always welcome to observe or participate in a committee hearing. You can participate by either writing (snail mail or email) to your representatives or to the chair of the committee or by showing up and testifying. If you testify in person, try to bring 20-25 copies of your written testimony for members of the committee and for the committee's records. This is not required, but it helps.

Generally in hearings we receive testimony from lobbyists or other stakeholders. It's the rare but very welcome occurrence to hear testimony from the general public--and for this legislator, those are the testimonies that carry the most weight.

Do come visit your State House. You can sit in the balcony on session day and observe all the proceedings first hand, or attend and participate in hearings of your choice. Contact me to be my special guest at a House session. It's your house; come sit a while.
