The Interagency Commission on Human Trafficking was established after incidents of human sex and labor trafficking were reported in NH. In one instance a couple in Litchfield was found to have trafficked a man for the purposes of involuntary labor, and in the second instance a young woman was the victim of sex trafficking. Among the Commission's charges are to assess the problem in the state and make a final report with recommendations to the legislature in December 2008.
It is a federal crime to traffic humans, but many states are adopting legislation to deal with it.
