Hillsborough County HQ.Members of our county's Executive Committee are chosen by legislators in the county delegation (made up of all state reps from Hillsborough County). A proscribed number of members are chosen from Nashua, Manchester, and the combined towns.
The primary role of the committee is to review the proposed annual budgets for all the county departments (such as the nursing home, the prison, and the sheriff) after the county's Board of Commissioners makes its recommendations, and then pass on the committee's version to the county delegation as a whole. Any member of the delegation can volunteer to serve on a budget subcommittee to review individual department budgets. For several years Suzanne has been on the subcommittees for the county nursing home and the Department of Corrections. She also serves as the Executive Committee's liaison to our county's Cooperative Extension, a national organization whose New Hampshire home is at UNH.
The committee meets throughout the year to take up any budget issues that arise.
